LA Pebbles On The Beach 2009

Littlehampton's Premier Music Festival

When I started to think about what to write about Pebbles 2009 my first thought was inevitably where do I start? Classically it’s the beginning isn’t? However that’s not how I am going to write it as you’ll see.

Besides all the kit, lights, scaffolding, woodwork, food, drink, toilets and a myriad of other odds & sods, the most important part of Pebbles 2009 were the PEOPLE who managed the event, created & promoted the event, produced merchandise for the event, raised funds for the event, lifted and shifted endless lots of all the hardware needed before and after the event. To all those people I say THANKS SO MUCH.

In the months before the event all the people mentioned above had great ideas and some not so great. We agreed on stuff, we argued on other stuff, and some disputes arose, some people sadly withdrew from the event including a couple of bands.

Nevertheless when the great day arrived after two exhausting days of set-up I felt and enormous sense of pride and achievement. I even got a little choked-up & shed a tear I freely admit!! And why feel that way……….because WE DID IT!!!

Oh yes & by the way……………………..WE’LL DO IT AGAIN NEXT YEAR……..watch out !!

I look back on Pebbles 2009 with a great sense of pride and achievement. It took a lot of people a lot of time to make this years Pebbles what it was. It all started soon after last years ended, when the question was asked, "DO we want to do this again?" and the answer was a resounding "YES!".

I had a much bigger role in this years festival than I did last year as I didn't join the Pebbles team until June 2008. My band won last years Battle of the Bands and that is how I became involved. Now that I am a member of the team and in one of the bands that play I can honestly say It was fantastic, thank you one and all. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.
